Kap Bambino and the 8-bit scene

Kap Bambino

I had a discussion with a friend today about what music we would be listening to next year, and while we were pretty certain that the french-inspired electro scene will remain prominent, we were also quite confident that dubstep and disco will grow increasingly popular. But one thing that we also realized, was the 8-bit scene seems to be forgotten by everyone. Of course 8bitpeoples are still going strong, but the Crystal Castles-ish scene seemed to die after CC and You Love Her Coz She’s Dead, and that has surprised me a bit. I know that the amount of combinations between screaming female vocals and 8-bit sounding keyboards is relatively small, but there must be some more to this scene. So please, if you’re in the know, hit me with a comment or an email, ’cause so far I’ve heard nothing but great stuff from the 8-bit scene.

One of the bands that remined me of the existence of the scene is Kap Bambino, and they’re honestly everything I love about this kind of music. Their tracks all seem so immediate and intense, and while that sometimes may be a little too much, Kap Bambino do it just right. Yeah yeah, they do draw a lot of inspiration from the “conventional” electro scene and they’re not inventing anything, but just let them rip your heart out!

Actually, Crystal Castles are getting bigger and bigger. 70,000 plays per day on their myspace page. That’s more than any mainstream band I can think of. 13 million plays total. That’s insane. My band dreams of hitting 100 plays per day. Kap Bamino gets 200. Myspace is the new Billboard charts!

Yeah I know, but what I mean is that we aren’t really seeing a lot of bands that make similar music, like there was with the whole Ed Banger scene.
What’s the link to your myspace? I would love to contribute with some plays

it might have to do with the fact that You Love Her Coz She’s Dead is shocking.
