Fresh Animal Collective remixes

Animal Collective

One of the things I love about Animal Collective is that they always manage to make their music both beautiful and weird while their rhythms and melodies remain perfect. They’re hardly a danceable as a band, but when you’ve got some talented producers to spice up your sound, chances are that the result will be pretty nice.

I have yet to listen to Merriweather post pavilion so I can’t really say anything clever about how these remixes hold up to the original tracks. The two remixes in this post are pretty exceptional though. First up is a mashup with Frankie Knuckles‘s Your Love, a track that apparently acted as an inspiration for My Girls. I find the first half of this one a bit meh, but when the vocals kick in things really take off for the better!

The second one is a bit more classic. Dave Wrangler turns the same song into something you can actually dance to mainly by using some effective drums in the mix. This really reminds me of the Panda Bear live DVD in terms of sound with Panda Bear’s distant vocals singing some words I don’t quite understand.
