I have already expressed my thoughts about Bacardi and sponsored tracks with the release of The Juan Maclean’s remix of The Twelves so I’m not going to give you that rant all over again. Instead, this post will be all positive, solely focusing on the beautiful music, because that’s what it’s all about, right?
Groove Armada‘s Drop the Tough is the latest addition to the B-Live remixes catalog and once again we’re dealing with some bigass remixers. The Twelves and Van She always deliver quality work when they decide to do a proper remix, so my excitement was huge when I finally got my hands on these two tracks. Groove Armada have indeed been funked up with some fancy disco vibes and strings to add to the feel in these two remixes that both are close to the holy grail of funky sounds.

It’s weird that Bacardi are releasing music, but no one batted an eyelid when Paul McCartney did an album with Starbucks and that’s much worse than this. I suppose if good music comes out then who are we to care. Its not as if record labels are lovely people who are only in it for the music. They’re out for the cash just like Bacardi. The music is very good in this case so we’ll let them off. Both remixes will no doubt be played all over. I love Groove, Van She and The Twelves but the currently unknown RGBs singer who is doing vocals on this may well end up being bigger than them all. Shes amazing and I hear the RGBs album is going to be a big event. Thumbs up.
That’s true about the McCartney thing.. It’s impossible to ignore the big companies’ influence on the music industry today, and even though I don’t like the sponsorship idea, it’s a bit naive to think it will just disappear again. So I guess we better get used to it; after all this Bacardi series has been great so far
