White Lies are easily one of the bands I’m having the biggest expectations for in 2009 and Yuksek is always awesome. Seeing that Yuksek would be remixing of Farewell to the Fairground made my heart skip a beat; after all Yuksek has yet to let me down in terms of great remixes.
Yuksek’s classic smashing sound fits White Lies’ dark rock surprisingly well, especially when the dramatic vocals are mixed up with the robot ones. Farewell to the Fairground was never my favorite White Lies track, I always found the sound to be just a little too similar to U2 and The Killers, but Yuksek manages to make the track a lot more ballsy, desperate and cool, all qualities that fit White Lies very well.
