Dark and gloomy, warm and groovy

Another portion of ramblings and a new batch of great music is about to hit your screen. Lately I’ve been spinning some pretty mixed stuff, ranging from the darkest and gloomiest dubstep to some over-the-top funky & happy disco. This post will be the essence of what I’ve been listening to lately, and I can only recommend checking back in the coming week, I’ve lined up a number of sweet tracks for your listening pleasure.

Hercules and Love Affair’s Blind was easily my favorite track of 2008. Lately, this Serge Santiago edit has taken over my earphones with its deep and repetitive grooves. This isn’t even close to the original’s upbeat disco. Instead this track builds on the pinch of melancholy Anthony’s voice always contains and transfers the disco inferno into a late night burner.

- Hercules and Love Affair – Blind (Serge Santiago Version)

I wish I could say that I liked Caspa’s new single more.. This track is a bit meh, but my expectations for Caspa’s upcoming album are still high. I can’t really put my finger on what’s lacking in this track, I just find the vocal sample slightly annoying and the overall production bland.

- Caspa – Lions Roar

This is nothing short of amazing though.

- Crown Heights Affair – Dance Lady Dance

Similar ramblings:

  1. La Serenissima, strings, and Serge Santiago
  2. Something totally different
  3. WTF is the deal with disco?
