I’m going in for the kill

I’m having some sort of post-winter meditation time today. I know that sounds a bit strange, some may even call it disturbing. But running a couple of miles in the snow today seemed to be the perfect opportunity to get my mind cleaned up a bit.

I usually listen to music while I run (A-Trak’s Running Man mix is key), but this time the snow was a decent distraction. If I were to listen to music while running today, these two tracks would definitely make my playlist:

- DJ Mujava – Township Funk (TRG Remix)

The talk I’ve heard about Mujava’s epic Township Funk has been evenly split up in two equally enthusiastic groups. One of them yelling that this is just another attempt at milking a cash cow, the original was always the best, and whatever arguments you may have for unleashing a full-featured backlash. The other group still loves this, and they love it a lot.

I don’t know if it’s because I jumped on the bandwagon relatively late, but I still love this track. TRG’s take benefits from the dubstep drums and I actually found myself liking the lounge-inspired keys. Think the second half of Skream! and you’re pretty much there.

- La Roux – In For The Kill (Skream vs Foamo Remix)

Let’s stay with Skream for a minute. The La Roux remix is all over and even though we only have this track because of some overexcited intern, I haven’t found myself liking a track this much in a long long time. Foamo’s re-edit was highly anticipated (at least by me). I’ve been killing his Myspace player for a while, but let’s face it, it’s not exactly audiophile heaven. Now it’s here in full 320 kbps glory, enjoy the ride! If TRG’s remix sounded like a Skream remix, this one could easily have come from Burial. The guys at Kill The Rhythm need some high fives for sharing this, head over to their site for more great music.
