I’ve been working on a piece

by Rasmus on March 7, 2009

I’ve been wanted to change things on here for a while. I’ve been switching themes, trying to change my blogging habits, but I haven’t really felt the momentum the way I’ve felt it before. So what am I going to do then? I haven’t really decided yet, but I’m definitely not giving up my blogging projects.

Instead, I’ll try to switch my musical focus. I’ve been writing about a lot of different stuff, but mainly the bloghouse bangers from more renowned artists. Lately, I’ve lost the feel, and after some discussions on the Erol Alkan forum, I realized that this blog had sort of “gone to hell”. Ok, that’s a bit of an overstatement, but I’ve definitely been sharing a lot of tracks that I didn’t really feel.

From now on, this will be a more personal blog with music that’s not as up to date as it has been before. On the other hand, the tracks I post will be my absolute favorites and nothing but the very best music. I realize that it should probably have been like this from the beginning, but somewhere along the road, I lost my focus.

First up is an old Glass Candy track I rediscovered when I was trying to clean up my hard drive today. This is a bit more obscure than the stuff on Beatbox and approaches the italo feel (more on that later). This is really a lovely track. Glass Candy seem to be really close to making something remarkable, but I have yet to be really blown away. This is ace though, a gem worth grabbing if you don’t have it yet.

Next is a sweet piece of italo inspired disco. As far as I know, and I’m by no means a disco expert, this is one of only a handful of tracks that Mr Flagio released. I guess that means the end of the quantity vs quality debate. Take a Chance sounds like some absurd horror soundtrack, yet it’s immediate and funky as hell.

The final track today is from one of Norway’s finest disco artists. Lindstrom (that’s Lindstrøm for all us scandinavians) makes some extremely pleasant space disco, but I never really went beyond last year’s Where You Go, I Go Too in his catalog. I should have dug deeper though, as there are some serious gems to be found. I grabbed this from one of my most recent blog-loves Feel My Bicep, truly a blog worth blogging about! Check out their site and the amazing Lindstrøm track below.
