Johnny Jewel, who you may already know as the instrument-playing part of Glass Candy, is back with a new project that will melt your face just by its immediate appeal.
I read someone saying that BEATBOX is overrated. At first, I was pissed. After a little while, I realized that the guy may actually have been right. Don’t get me wrong, I love Glass Candy, but once you’ve heard it, you’ve heard it. Therefore, my excitement was enormous, when tracks from Johnny Jewel’s latest project, Desire, surfaced.
Desire is an instant love affair. The vocals are less dusty than on the Glass Candy stuff, which turns the whole feel towards some of the Chromatics tracks. Johnny Jewel’s talent for creating beats and grooves that are deep and disco-noir while remaining light and crisp is just outstanding.
So far, a short EP has reached the blogosphere, and if you browse around a little, I’m sure you’ll be able to find it. I’m just going to share my two favourite tracks, two sweet pieces of dark italo. Please continue to be this great, Desire!
