Sometimes, it’s hard to tell whether you’re being blinded by local press-hyperbole, or you’re actually looking at the real deal. Looking at Tomas Barfod, you know you’re in for a quality meal. Sure, he’s been a consistent creator of underground buzz around here, but that doesn’t always ensure quality.
What Barfod, who is also known under his TomBoy moniker, seems to be doing so brilliantly, is to create music that is both pleasing to underground house-heads, but remains accessible to less hardcore fans. That is truly an achievement considering the staggering amounts of soulless mainstream house and we-are-cooler-than-you underground scene.
To prove just that and to showcase the diversity of his work, he’s putting out a blend of both new and old tracks. Mini-mixing Giana Factory and Electrojuice into a “Tomas Barfod worked on this”-mix, he sums up his approach beautifully. Very distinct and organic sound along with some smooth mixing.
