Continuing my streak of “the”-posts, we move on with Pantha du Prince‘s latest jam. Of course it’s not the oh-so-secret collaboration with Panda Bear that’s nowhere to be found (but trust me, it’s worth it). The Splendour is taken from his upcoming album, and it will be the first single from that very album.

I must admit that when I saw Pantha du Prince dj earlier this year as a warmup act for Animal Collective, I was bored. Maybe I just couldn’t wait to see AC live in action, but his music never grabbed me. As I continued browsing around the internet, his name kept popping up, and there was nothing but praise to be found for him. So I picked up This Bliss and changed my mind in about 8 seconds.

If you take the time to actually listen, I’ll bet that you’ll find some sort of aural reward, when you put on a Pantha du Prince track. The important thing here is patience; it’s not easy and consumer-ready. But if you take the time to let it settle in and try to fully appreciate the small, subtle twists, there’s so much to gain from these cuts.

Lots of group hugs, hand claps and christmas snacks for the Regnsky team.
