Floating Points et la violence

Until 2010 gets properly rolling, I’ll dedicate the first handful of posts to artists who you most likely will be hearing me rave about in the coming year. First up is Floating Points, another semi-mysterious British producer combining an eclectic mix of sources to create his own epileptic dance sounds.

Posting another Sebastien Tellier remix seems outdated by now considering the amount of remixes I’ve already posted, but Floating Points brings something new to the table. If you dug Dorian Concept‘s productions, you’ll have no problem leaning back and enjoying Floating Points’ equally hectic keyboard sounds. The influences are slightly more straight forward here, however, and where Dorian Concept’s sound lends much from underground hip hop, this is not as easy to pin down.

Twinkly arpeggiators meddle with the original piano riff, and just when you think you’ve adjusted to the slow, thumping rhythm, the tempo picks up and the synths drift back and forth in rambling patterns. This track doesn’t become too much of a technical wank, however, and Tellier’s vocals along with the snappy keyboard stabs keep adding momentum.

Also, I’d like to point you to the brand new Facebook page I’ve created. Stop by to say hi and share your fandom and we’ll all be happier people.

Graphic high five via barkatdogs and respectful nods to funkism for putting this up first.
