I rarely do local promotions on here because I like to keep things fairly country-neutral, but sometimes you have to make an exception. As more and more prominent and blog-worthy events and artists show up, however, I think the Copenhagen-centric perspective may even become relevant for the rest of you out there. If you can handle the posts about events over here, I promise I’ll compensate somehow when you decide to stop by.
The reason for my whole local/global discussion is the celebration of two of Denmarks finest projects in recent years. Headphone afficionados AIAIAI have teamed up with pastry-named top label Tartelet to celebrate their combined 5 years in their respective games. On saturday, these fields are fused in a grand birthday party with music from Tartelet proteges Wareika & Brandt Brauer Frick.
To give you a sense of what you may be enjoying at Vega this weekend (or may be missing out on, depending on the perspective), Tartelet has provided some snippets from both acts. Wareika’s Fantasy is a slow, mumbling track that places itself between the safety of a rock solid bassline and a mix of preaching and indistinguishable vocals while carrying the groove effortlessly.
If you’ve ever wondered how classical music would sound with elements of house and techno blended in, you don’t have to look any further than Brandt Brauer Frick. It’s challenging at first, but when you forget your initial prejudices, you’ll be amazed by the talent that this trio shares. Rumour has it that their tracks explode when recreated live. I don’t doubt that.

Come join the fun on Saturday! If you find it hard to wait that long, you can always spread the love on Facebook or go check out the AIAIAI blog, where I’ll be doing my best to assist the rest of the crew in entertaining you.
